About PBC community

People Building Connections

PBC Languages was created to bring language learning back to what it was always meant to be: people meeting consistently, speaking openly, and growing together.

We are an online language immersion community built on real conversation, experienced teachers, and small groups that stay small.

Why We Started

When Babbel Live closed, many learners lost more than access to classes.

They lost continuity, the same teacher each week, the same small group, the rhythm that makes practice feel natural.

Rather than move toward larger, more anonymous platforms, a group of teachers and learners rebuilt the model independently.

PBC Languages was created to preserve what worked: small groups, experienced educators, and community-driven progress.

Getting Started Is Simple

Language isn't something you absorb alone. It grows through repeated conversation with real people. Practice builds fluency, and community keeps it going.

Our Founder

Guillermo de Yzaguirre Martínez

Founder & CEO, PBC Languages

I believe language is the ability to connect with someone beyond your own culture.

At 15, I moved to the United States, an experience that changed how I understood language completely. By 16, I was already teaching English to children younger than me. That's when I realised language was not something to study, but something to live and share with others.

Later, I worked within structured online language models and saw both their value and their limits. Learning often felt too standardised and disconnected from real conversation, leaving little space for adaptability and human context.

I founded PBC Languages to build something more alive: a language ecosystem where teachers and students stay connected, and where learning extends naturally beyond the classroom.

The PBC Difference

Small rooms

We Keep the Rooms Small

One teacher and no more than four students. Because speaking time is not negotiable.

Career educators

We Work With Career

Not gig tutors or scripted facilitators. You get professionals who've spent 15–20+ years guiding adults toward fluency.

Continuity

We Build Continuity, Not Drop-In Sessions

You don't rotate through anonymous classrooms. You return to familiar faces and build momentum.

Real-life schedule

We Schedule for Real Life in Europe and USA & Canada

Classes designed around European time zones and working adults, not global volume optimisation.

Who This Community Is For

PBC Languages isn't designed for passive learners. It's built for people who value consistency, conversation, and shared progress.

For Learners Who Want More Than an App

If you're looking for structured, community-based language learning, not isolated study, this environment will feel right.

For Former Babbel Live Members

If you miss small groups, familiar teachers, and a weekly rhythm, this format was built with that continuity in mind.

For Professionals

If you're preparing to relocate, expand internationally, or strengthen professional communication, you'll find serious learners here.

For Expats & Frequent Travelers

If language is part of how you live, work, or integrate into new cultures, consistent conversation matters more than casual drop-ins.

For Adult & Returning Learners

If you're coming back to a language after years or learning later in life, you'll find patience, structure, and maturity in the group.

A Community That Stays Connected

Language improves when it stays active. That's why participation doesn't end when class does.

WhatsApp groups

WhatsApp Practice Groups

Questions, corrections, articles, and small exchanges, the language stays in motion during the week.

Cultural events

Cultural Events

Films, traditions, current events and themed conversations. Culture is part of the experience.

Structured exchanges

Structured Exchanges

Tandem partnerships with learners who are equally committed to improving.

Ongoing participation

Ongoing Participation

Members share resources, reflections, and conversations inside the wider community. You're encouraged to engage, not just attend.

This is not a membership you log into once a week. It's a community you remain part of.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PBC Languages Only for Former Babbel Live Learners?

No. While many members joined after Babbel Live closed, PBC Languages is open to anyone looking for structured, community-based language learning. What matters most is that you value consistent practice and small-group interaction.

How Is This Different From Other Online Language Platforms?

Most platforms focus on content delivery. We focus on continuity and conversation. Classes are limited to four students, teachers are highly experienced professionals, and community interaction continues beyond the session itself.

Do I Need To Be At An Advanced Level to Join?

Not at all. We support all levels, from beginners to advanced learners. What matters more than your level is your willingness to participate consistently and engage with the group.

What Kind Of Learners Thrive Here?

PBC works best for adults who want structure, real speaking time, and a serious but supportive environment. Many members are professionals, retirees, expats, or returning learners who value depth over speed.
